It’s not long before the first of the movie crew arrives to set up for the day, so I retreat upstairs to one of the empty guestrooms, and work on things for the Sandpiper. It turns out, choosing cute décor is only 5% of running a successful B&B, and I’ve downloaded a ton of resources and guides to learn everything about wholesale supply orders, promotion and marketing, and small-business licenses. I’m deep in a guide to website search optimizing (apparently, liberal use of the word ‘charming’ is key) when Jackson calls.

“You know,” he opens, sounding amused. “A lesser man might take your quick exit this morning as judgement of his skills in the bedroom.”

I smile, setting my laptop aside and moving to the window. Searching the bustle of people down below in the yard, I see him sitting in a folding chair as the hair stylist tousles his hair to perfection. “You don’t sound worried,” I remark, teasing.

“That’s because I know I delivered,” he answers smugly. “Twice.”

I laugh. “Three times, if you count the car.”

“Well,” he chuckles, low and sexy, “I don’t like to brag.” There’s the sound of voices, and I see one of the production staff speaking to him for a moment, and Jackson’s voice returns. “When can I see you?”

“Right now. Look up,” I reply.

He turns, then laughs, seeing me. He sends a wave, but his voice stays intimate. “When can I see more of you?”

I inhale fast, remembering his mouth grazing the inside of my thigh. “Aren’t you kind of busy right now?” I ask, still teasing. “You know… Lights, cameras, a hundred people waiting on your every move?”

“Oh, yeah, I forgot about that.” Jackson replies. “Something must be distracting me.”

“I can’t imagine what,” I flirt back.

“Come down here so I can show you,” he says, waving again up to the window.

“Come, down there, in front of everyone?” I tease. “I didn’t think it was that kind of movie.”

He laughs, and then Reeve appears in the yard, brandishing script pages, looking stressed—as usual. “You better deal with whatever that is,” I tell him. “But I’ll catch up with you later, OK?”

“Count on it,” Jackson’s voice turns sexy again. “Because three is just a baseline now, baby.”

I hang up laughing, but I can’t deny the shiver that rolls through me at his sexy promise. I try to focus on work again, but now all I can think about is last night: the fevered intensity in his eyes in the backseat of the car, his capable hands sliding over my body, the way he seemed to remember everything my body loved—and showed me things I didn’t even know could drive me wild.

For a moment I imagine going downstairs and pulling Jackson away from the crowd. Stealing a moment between scenes to lock the door, and unzip his jeans, and drop to my knees, and see what it would take for him to call me ‘good girl’ again…

“Let’s get the lighting set, come on people, we’re on the clock here!”

Voices outside break through my fevered fantasies, and I blush.
